A man lost two teeth when a gang attacked him with a champagne bottle on Saturday evening.
The 34-year-old victim was targeted by a group of four men while out riding his bike in Shephall View, Stevenage, at about 7.40pm.
Det Con Christina Debtuch is investigating and said: “I would appeal to anyone who may have seen this incident or anyone who knows who was involved to please contact me with information.”
The man also cut his lip when he was hit with the bottle and then fled the scene and hid to get away from his attackers.
When he returned he found that his red mountain bike had been stolen.
The group of men are described as aged between 17 and 20 years old.
There are no more details of the attackers at this point.
Anyone with information should call Det Con Debtuch on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
