SPIDERMAN was among the hordes of guest helping to raise money for charity during a community fun day.

Conor Stewart, six, was impressed with his transformation into a superhero during Broadwater Day held at Shephalbury Park.

Visitors got the chance to watch live bands, dog shows and much more as well as look round the 60 stalls.

This was the first Broadwater Day for three years and was bought back by public demand.

The day was organised by Broadwater Community Association. Sandra Gallagher, Broadwater Community Centre manager, said: "There were several inflatables for the children. However, it was a very windy day and some of the events were unable to go ahead for safety reasons, but no one complained and in the true spirit of things, everyone just got on and enjoyed themselves.

"We had the local PCSO in attendance along with the fire service who were giving out advice on free smoke alarms, we had a surprise visit from Barney the dinosaur and Bob the Builder for the children and a clown giving out presents to anyone who would shake his hand.

"We had two live bands playing throughout the day and everyone commented on how good they both were.

"Overall it was a good day and we definitely want to run it again next year.
