CREWS were at the scene of a fire this afternoon (Wednesday) which spanned three acres of land near Hitchin.
Firefighters were called to Bedford Road, Ickleford, just after 3.30pm, where some stubble was ablaze.
They brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes, remaining at the scene for a while after to ensure it was safe.
A Herts Fire and Rescue spokesman said the cause was believed to be accidental.
