PLANS to beat the credit crunch in North Herts will be presented to councillors tonight (Wednesday).

David Billing (Hitchin Oughton) will present the Labour Groups' 11-point plan to aid the economy in the district at a full North Herts District Council meeting.

The opposition group has come up with the plan after studying what other councils have done to tackle the problem.

Cllr Billing said "The effects of the credit crunch are hitting residents now. The Labour group's proposals challenge the council to work with our partners to do for North Herts residents what other councils are doing for theirs."

Proposals include working with North Herts College to expand the scope of free or low-cost skills training, improving town centres and forming stronger links with businesses.
