A GANG of four men pounced on a teenager in a late night "cowardly" attack.

The 17-year-old victim was robbed in Stevenage on Tuesday last week.

It happened at 10.30pm when he was walking through the underpass under the roundabout on Six Hills Way.

He was pushed over by a group of men who took his wallet, which contained a substantial amount of cash, before making off in an unknown direction.

The thieves were four black men who were wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered with scarves.

DS Dave Ridley, who is investigating the incident, said: "This was a cowardly attack which has left the victim upset.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen these men prior to or after the incident took place.

"I would urge anyone with any information at all which could help with our investigation to contact us as soon as possible."

DS Ridley can be contacted on 01438 757084. Alternatively, ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
