A COUPLE’S home was targeted by burglars who made away with a variety of valuable items, including the couple’s only wedding photos.

The property on Vardon Road was broken into on Thursday, May 3, with offenders smashing a rear window to gain access.

A number of electronic goods including two laptops, a sat nav, a digital camera and iPods and iPads were taken, as was a CD which held the only copies of the couple’s recent wedding.

DC Karen Stephens, from the Stevenage Local Crime Unit, is investigating. She said: “While the CD has very little financial value, it is of great sentimental value to the victim and his family.

“Understandably, he is very keen for the photos to be safely returned. We are appealing to anyone who has information about the stolen items or who saw anything suspicious in the Vardon Road area at the time to contact police as soon as possible.”

The incident happened between 1pm and 3.15pm, with offenders fleeing the property through a side door which comes out by a path running alongside Sishes Wood.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference E1/12/2752, or Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
