AN act of vandalism has cost Biggleswade Town Council £700.
Several weeks ago the Biggleswade Twinning Associa-tion reported that the town's twinning sign had been moved and later found dumped in the River Ivel.
Because of the amount of damage the sign had suffered it was beyond repair so councillors agreed to spend £700 on a new one at their meeting last week.
But the spending ended there when councillors decided not to donate any cash towards the 56th annual Biggleswade Sports Meeting for its prize fund, expenses and insurance costs.
Councillors declined any financial support saying the town council had dealt with grants earlier in the year.
