CHILDREN at Campton Lower School enjoyed a special lunch on Friday, freshly prepared by Mid Beds District Council's catering team as no school meals could be delivered due to the closure of all neighbouring school kitchens.
Stacey Rippingham, catering assistant at the council, said: "We received a call from the school at about 11am asking if we could help them by making packed lunches for the children and we were happy to club together and help."
Staff made 29 lunch boxes containing goodies such as sandwiches, muffins and fruit.
Campton headteacher, Jaqueline Woodthorpe, said: "Campton Lower School is very grateful for the helpfulness and efficiency of staff at the council who provided an excellent picnic lunch at short notice for all.
