A CONSERVATIVE candidate has been named as a new district councillor in a by-election.
Gillian Clarke won the seat in the Stotfold and Langford by-election held yesterday (Thursday).
Mrs Clarke won 1,021 votes while Labour candidate Satinderjit Dhaliwal received 446, Lib Dem Antony Bains gained 147 and UKIP candidate, Georgious Konstantindis won 221 votes.
The election was held following the sudden death of Mrs Clarke’s husband, Cllr Jon Clarke at his home in Langford in June.
The overall turnout for the election was 17.37 per cent with 1846 ballot papers issued.
