The town's popular David's Bookshop is now mixing with the big boys in the book industry. They have been short listed in the national Bookseller Retail Awards for 2006 and face competition from none other than WH Smith, Ottakar's and Blackwells and other big names in this field. David's have been short listed in the Marketing campaign category for their approach to World Book Day 2006, where they covered sale days, all-night opening, sponsored reading, school book fairs, children's events, book related debates etc. The winners will be announced on September 21 at the Natural History Museum. Great news for everyone at the Garden City retailer, and for the town as a whole, good luck in the final. A double reason to celebrate was the announcement of David's William Armitage being honoured with an MBE in the recent Queen's Honours List for services to business and the community in Letchworth Garden City - well done William.
