The world’s number one ranked female archer, born and raised in Comet country, has made the winning shot for England clinching Commonwealth glory.
Nicky Hunt, who grew up in Stotfold, and team mates Danielle Brown and Nichola Simpson beat the Canadian team 232-229 earlier today making them the first English archers to win gold medals at the games for 28 years.
She told the BBC: “It was a really tough match and Canada were fantastic. But I think we shot to our potential and it was a good performance in the end.”
On her gold medal-clinching shot, she said: “It was an easy shot. My team mates really helped me out.
“If I had to shoot at 10, it could have been different.”
