ST FRANCIS' College in Letchworth GC has raised over £3,000 for the Garden House Hospice, with a little help from a friend.
Former cook Sally Jarman deserves much credit for the achievement, raising over £2,600 from events she organised.
Her fish and chips quiz night in the school canteen was a huge success. As well as a £10 entry fee, funds were increased by an auction and a raffle.
Sally also enterprisingly sold knitted chickens with chocolate eggs in the centre around the school.
She presented the cheque alongside headteacher Mairin Hegaty to hospice manager Jenny Lupton.
The rest of the money was raised by a school carol service, which was well attended. St Francis has successfully supported numerous other charities in recent years, including Children in Need, the Tsunami Appeal and Cancer Research.
