ROCK band Coldplay will not be performing at Knebworth House next summer after all.

The band said on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show last month they were trying to book a one-off gig in the grounds of the stately home.

But on the band's website www.coldplay.com frontman Chris Martin says: "Well, we tried to get Knebworth but it just wasn't possible. So we're having to think of something else. In fact, I think we have thought of something else. Hopefully we'll be able to announce it soon. And hopefully it's not the same day Oasis have booked it."

Martha Lytton Cobbold, managing director of Knebworth House said: "I have not heard anything direct from the band or their promoters. The enquiry is still live as far as I'm concerned. We gave them a list of dates and can do more if necessary. We would love to have them.
