TWO women, one of whom is from Codicote, Hitchin, were found guilty of child cruelty today (Friday) at St Albans Crown Court.
Rebecca Robins, 21 from the High Street, Codicote, Hitchin and Lisa Wymer, from Arundel Drive, Borehamwood, were arrested following reports of child cruelty against a two-year-old boy, alleged to have taken place at a nursery in Welwyn Garden City on December 17, 2009.
They will both be sentenced on October 22.
Detective Constable Andy Mood of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit said: “The defendants denied causing any distress to the two-year-old since the incident was first reported to police, to the extent of putting the little boy’s parents through the ordeal of a trial at court.
“Any report of child neglect, abuse or cruelty is dealt with extremely seriously by the Constabulary and we have a dedicated team of detectives to investigate these cases.”
