Selling fish and chips was an unusual but very effective way of raising money for a Stevenage armed forces charity.
Will Rowe donated £624.70 to Ian Nottage and Mark Williams from the Armed Forces Veterans and Families Information Centre last week.
Will raised the cash by donating all of the money, minus VAT, he made from selling cod and chips at W J Rowe Fish and Chips in Bedwell Crescent, Stevenage, on one day last month. He said: “It’s great to give something back. Our armed forces do a fantastic job and don’t have a choice about where they go so they deserve some extra help.”
The centre, based at Stevenage Museum in St George’s Way, helps veterans with everything from public housing to pensions. It is open 10.30am to 4pm from Wednesday to Saturday.
