Stevenage manager praises players and staff after picking up BBC coach prize

Graham Westley praised his playing squad and coaching staff after picking up BBC East’s Coach of the Year award last week.

The Stevenage manager beat the likes of Norwich City boss Paul Lambert to the prize, and has since said the award was thanks to a team effort.

“[It’s an award] to the team, isn’t it?,” Westley said. “There’s a lot of players that work very, very hard for me and a management team that’s around me on a day-to-day basis who give their all to the cause and I think any award that goes to a manager or a coach is a testament to the team around them and is a reflection of the work that has gone on here during the course of the year.

“We had a good cup run, we won a second promotion, and we’ve started off in an ok way in league 1 as well.”
