A BASKETBALL organisation was cock-a-hoop when it was visited by two special guests after receiving a grant for its club.
The Letchworth GC-based 627 Basketball Club received almost £3,000 from the Local Network Fund to cover costs for a fully qualified coach and an assistant for a few hours each week.
The money would also provide a mentoring role for those that attend and are at risk of being excluded from school.
The grant has also allowed for one team member, Ben Good, to train to take over as a coach.
North East Herts MP Oliver Heald joined Hertfordshire Community Foundation trustee Betty Goble to see the results of the grant.
Mr Heald said: "I am delighted that Hertfordshire Community Foundation has been able to support this excellent project through the Local Network Fund and I would encourage more local community groups that help young people to contact the Foundation to see if they are eligible to apply for a grant.
