It was member's night recently and the President for the evening Audrey Steeds welcomed everyone. Jerusalem was sung, and Audrey thanked Jackie Hall for arranging the luncheon this Wednesday and Pat Kemp for the organisation of outings. The speaker for the evening was Dot Wigg who was Chairman of the Bedford County Federation until January 2006 when she was promoted to the National Federation Board of Trustees. Her topic was Tea with the Queen. The Queen's Garden Party was on July 15 - the invitation was hand written and came from the Lord Chancellors office at Buckingham Palace. The Queen was very gracious and kind to all the guests she met, and genuinely interested in each of them. Dot finished by saying All this could not have happened if I had not joined the WI 40 years ago. The next meeting is on Wednesday, March 1, for more information telephone Iris Smyrk 01462 812164.
