A 10-year-old girl from Stevenage made a poster thanking key workers as part of the 'Clap for Heroes' initiative.

Summer Gore made cut-out hands to represent the heroes using their hands to help people, and made a heart in the middle "to show love and thanks to them".

She was inspired by her own dad, who is working throughout lockdown as a HGV lorry driver for Sainsbury's.

Summer said: "It would be great if we could see more 'hands and hearts' in our windows around Stevenage during this third lockdown."

The Clap for Heroes is an updated version of the Clap for Carers, which was introduced in the first lockdown in March last year to applaud NHS key workers at 8pm every Thursday.

It has now been expanded to include retail staff, teachers, home-schooling parents, those who are shielding and any others working in essential jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
