A woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and animal cruelty after a dead dog was found at her home.
Police were called to a property on Willow Tree Way in Hitchin at 6am yesterday (Monday) after they received reports of animal cruelty at the address.
When officers arrived they found the dead animal, and a second dog in a distressed state.
Two children were also at the house and are currently being looked after by family.
A 25-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty and child neglect. She has been released on police bail.
