Top breweries will be showcasing more than 50 beers at an award winning pub’s beer festival is officially under way.

The Chequers Pub will host the event from Thursday, August 21 to Monday, August 25 at the pub on High Street, Stevenage.

Beer from Tring, Red Squirrel, Mighty Oak, Buntingford and many more will be available, along with cold and hot food and a barbecue.

On the Sunday there will also be a charity race night from 8pm onwards, and on the Monday The Voice’s Nadeem Leigh will be singing out this year’s festival.

The pub has seen a remarkable turnaround since reopening 10 months ago, as it has recently received a Campaign for Real Ale Most Improved Pub of the Year award.

As well as this achievement, the landlady Kath Gallagher has also received a Cask Marque – an accreditation for serving “perfect condition” beer.
