ASDA staff in Biggleswade continue to stage charity events that will appeal to customers.

The fun continues today (Thursday) with Marc Gibson, manager of the George department, sitting in a bath of custard to raise money.

Store manager Kevin Kappes will get into bed in the foyer tomorrow (Friday) at noon and stay there for 24 hours.

The Tickled Pink disco that was held for colleagues and customers was a huge success.

Held at Biggleswade Town Football Club, which gave the clubhouse free with the music being donated by Ben at Eclipsed Discos, it raised £276.

Staff also raffled off the managers to different departments to fill set tasks which are the most disliked jobs around the store like washing up after the full cooked breakfast and cleaning the warehouse.

Mr Kappes went for £40 to do nights. In total the auction made £230. So look out for the managers doing jobs that you might not normally see them doing like filling the dog bowl and dressing up to help the greeter.

Last Saturday two departments raised £100, The bread and cakes department chose to put managers and colleagues in stocks outside the store which raised £73 and the George department took up face painting in the foyer which they will undertake again this Saturday.

The store is still selling tickets for the Pamper and Purchase evening priced at £2 with a free raffle ticket. The event is at the Biggleswade Working Men's Club on Monday (October 9) at 7pm.

Tickets are available from customer services at the store or by phoning Zoê on 01767 604100 ext 219. Confirmed bookings are from Pampered Chef, Avon, Phoenix Cards, books, craft stall, Candlelite plus a fashion show by the George department at 8pm.

This Sunday is the fun run when the home and leisure department will release the 200 balloons they have sold to customers who have dedicated them to individual people.

A week on Saturday sees the store's cycleathon in the foyer when ASDA is asking customers to volunteer to have a 15-minute cycle on the exercise bike to help pedal the distance from Biggleswade to ASDA House in Leeds which is 143.8 miles.

Already agreeing to take part is local MP Alistair Burt at 2pm and Biggleswade councillors mayor Wendy Smith and her husband David at 2.15pm and 2.30pm respectively.
