A charity which said that it would stop running a homeless shelter at the end of the month has now revealed its contract has been extended for a further three months.
In January the Comet reported that homeless charity St Mungo’s, which has ran the North Herts Sanctuary in Hitchin since 2011, said it would no longer be supporting the service from the end of March.
But now the charity has now said it will continue to work at the Nightingale Road shelter until the end of June.
Six employees at the shelter walked out for seven days in November in a dispute over working patterns, pay and other entitlements, and also striked again over the Christmas period.
