Stevenage Male Voice Choir raised more than £750 for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance with a special fundraising concert held at The Riverain Bowls Club in Walsworth, Hitchin.
The concert was organised by the bowls club president Andrew Greenall, who is also a member of the choir.
An audience of more than 100 were able to enjoy a full programme of 21 songs specially selected to display the full range of the choir’s repertoire.
These ranged from pop tunes like Angels by Robbie Williams to grand opera including Nesun Dorma and La Donna e Mobile – sung by the choir for the first time in broken Italian.
The concert was so well received that the choir has been invited to make a return visit next year in what will be its 60th anniversary year.
The choir rehearses each Friday evening at the Stevenage Community Arts Centre at the Roaring Meg Retail & Leisure park and potential members are always welcome between 7.30 to 9.30pm.
The group’s next concert will be on Saturday, November 4, at St Mary Magdalene Church in Dunton.
