Stevenage Borough Council is encouraging people to support local businesses and take advantage of discounts, offers and giveaways at shops across the town on Small Business Saturday this weekend.

The national event, which is partnered by the town’s Business & Technology Centre, is a chance to celebrate small and local businesses in the area. A Christmas market in Queensway also starts on the day, with stalls along the street.

For the first time the Town Centre Manager Tina Benson is holding a Cash Mob.

People are invited to meet at the fountain in the town square at noon and the group will choose which local business to support to spend their cash on in one go.

Small Business Saturday takes place in the town centre from 8.30am to 6pm.

The council is providing exhibition space for businesses to showcase their offer between 10am and 2pm and have a diverse range of businesses signed up.
