WITH the Olympic Torch Relay coming to Letchworth GC and Stevenage on Sunday, torchbearers will be readying themselves for the big day.
Tom Brennan knows first-hand what the experience was like, having carried the flame through Rugby yesterday morning (Monday).
The 46-year-old, who is the chairman of Aqualina Synchronised Swimming Club in Stevenage, had the honour of starting the leg in the Warwickshire town at 8.20am and running two sections of the route.
He said: “Being quite early in the morning I wasn’t expecting loads of people but the streets were lined with so many people. I had a stretch up a hill which was interesting but the experience was amazing.”
Mr Brennan said he will be showing off his memorabilia with club members at Stevenage Swimming Pool next Friday.
