An action group has been launched to oppose the proposed plans to build a concrete plant off the B656 between Hitchin and Codicote.

Breedon Southern Ltd has applied to North Herts District Council for planning permission to build on an existing salvage yard at Rush Green, replacing its old site in Stevenage.

The action group, made up of residents living on the B656, urges residents to submit their views by August 31 – when public comments will be accepted until.

A spokeswoman for the group said in a statement: “This proposed plant located at a rural location would seriously affect the locality and all those alongside and near the B656.

“There are no special circumstances which would allow this plant to be built on the Green Breen, in the unspoilt area of the Langley Valley.”
