A gala event to reward the recruitment industry in Hertfordshire is to be launched with the backing of Archant Herts and Cambs, publishers of the award-winning Comet.

The event will be a chance for the recruitment and human resources industry in Hertfordshire to hand out its own Oscars for achievement.

The glittering awards evening will be held in late August starting with a champagne reception followed by a three-course meal and entertainment at the sumptuous Tewin Bury Farm near Welwyn.

The first ever Hertfordshire Recruitment Awards will hopefully mirror the success of similar events that have been supported by Archant in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

It will be a celebration of the hard work and undisputed talent of recruitment agencies and teams within the industry and an opportunity to put their stars in the spotlight.

Caroline Hyde, who is organising the event as manager of special projects for Archant Herts & Cambs, said: "Successful recruitment is the lifeblood of any great company and through these annual awards we hope to reward those people who are making significant contributions to this process.

"This gives us a great opportunity to recognise both individuals and companies who have made a real difference to recruitment in Hertfordshire over the past 12 months, and also raise the profile of recruitment generally in the county.

"We launched the Cambridgeshire Recruitment Awards last autumn and, impressed by the involvement and response from the recruitment and HR industries, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has approached us to launch a similar event in Hertfordshire.

"The awards are a celebration of best practice in various areas of recruitment and we hope they will stimulate communication and new ideas throughout the industry on a local level.

"We are currently finalising the categories and securing sponsors for the event and hope to officially launch the Hertfordshire Recruitment Awards at the end of May."

The REC, the professional association that represents the dynamic and fast-growing recruitment industry in the UK, is the overall sponsor of the event. Other support has come from Business Link Hertfordshire, Phoenix Creative Design and Professional Personnel Consultants.

There is still an opportunity for companies to take part in this prestigious event as sponsors and anyone who is interested in supporting the awards should contact Carol Gray on 01438 866051 or carol.gray@archant.co.uk who can provide further details.

The awards are open to anyone that either recruits personnel or advertises recruitment in Hertfordshire.

For more details about the awards, how to enter the categories and information about the event keep an eye on our website www.recruitmentawards.co.uk/herts or look out for more news about the event in The Comet.
