AN “AUDACIOUS” town centre robbery which saw a man make off with money from a courier has prompted detectives to release a CCTV image of someone they believe could assist their investigations.
A male courier was approaching Barclays bank to make a deposit, when he was approached by a man who grabbed his courier’s bag.
The victim was the knocked to the floor as a result of a struggle, after which the offender grabbed the bag and ran off through Market Place, Hitchin.
Detectives released the still today (Friday), in the hope it would help their enquiries.
The robbery happened on July 11, at about 8.35pm.
Detective sergeant Nev Hanks, from the local crime unit in Hitchin, said: “This was an audacious robbery which left the victim in shock.
“I am appealing to this man or anyone who may recognise this man to come forward, as you may have vital information which could assist our investigation.”
