A SHOPPING centre is helping a school give its garden a makeover.

The Westgate Centre in Stevenage has donated £2,500 to Lonsdale School for children with special needs to help transform their garden for its pupils.

Westgate Centre manager Tina Bennett said she has thoroughly enjoyed raising money for the school.

She said: "When you meet the children in person and see what a tremendous difference the money will make to their lives you only wish you could give them more."

The Westgate Centre is committed to raising money for charity and chooses a different appeal each year. This year it will be fundraising for the Garden House Hospice.
