A CHARITY has received over £2,000 to help with financial coaching for disadvantaged women.

The Abbey Charitable Trust has donated £2,475 to the Women's Counselling Centre in Hitchin to fund a pilot service which will provide professional one to one coaching to women experiencing financial hardship.

Sue Oakes, of the Abbey branch in Hitchin, said she was delighted they were able to help local women and young people.

She said: "Not being in control of your money can be very uncomfortable and the work of the counselling centre in helping disadvantaged women to manage their money and get on top of debt is vital."

The director of the centre, Susan Barnes, said they currently see over 70 clients a week.

The donation will enable the centre to arrange 55 sessions of financial management coaching over six months.
