Carlisle United could be without top scorer Jabo Ibehre for this weekend’s match with Stevenage after the striker was controversially sent off in the first minute of the club’s 1-1 draw with Accrington Stanley on Tuesday evening.

The 33-year-old striker, who has 14 goals to his name already this season, was shown a straight red card after raising his foot in a challenge with Stanley defender Matty Pearson.

Accrington also had a player sent off – Adam Buxton – as both sides finished the match with 10 men.

Carlisle manager Keith Curle plans to appeal the decision, which he described as ‘poor’, but if he fails to win the appeal he will lose his striker for three matches beginning this weekend.
