A Hitchin volunteer at a centre helping older people and those with physical disabilities and mental ill health has retired after 37 years aiding her community.
Valued member, Lyn Hendrick, volunteered at the North Herts day service for older people at Nightingale House, Nightingale Road in the town for nearly four decades.
She started with the caring organisation when it was based in Kennedy Gardens in Letchworth, following the service when it moved to Hitchin in 2008.
A spokeswoman for the centre praised Lyn and her wonderful efforts for people in our community saying: “All at Nightingale House would like to thank Lyn for her time and effort.”
A colleague of hers Alan Ewington has had his hair cut in order to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and to remember a colleague.
Alan raised more than £500 through his efforts in memory of Richard Cronin, a driver at Nightingale House who sadly passed away.
The spokeswoman added: “We would also like to praise Alan for being courageous and having his hair cut in aid of raising money for MacMillan.
“Richard is missed by all.”
