A car park which will serve commuters is expected to open next week.

The 400 capacity site opposite Arlesey Railway Station in Old Oak Close is due to open to the public on Monday – two years after planning permission was granted by Central Bedfordshire Council.

Currently there is only one car park at the station which has a capacity of around 80 spaces, with many people parking on nearby verges and side roads as a result.

Car park owner Steven Dixon said: “There has always been a problem with parking at the station and this car park will provide a viable solution to the problem. I know people will say I’m only doing this for the money but I’m really trying to do some good for this community and I think this car park will be of real benefit to this area.”
