Car park plunge woman named

A WOMAN who died after falling from a multi-storey car park in Stevenage town centre on Monday has been named. Rita Masters, 68, of Wildwood Lane, Stevenage, fell from the roof of the car park in St George s Way shortly before 2.30pm.

A WOMAN who died after falling from a multi-storey car park in Stevenage town centre on Monday has been named.

Rita Masters, 68, of Wildwood Lane, Stevenage, fell from the roof of the car park in St George's Way shortly before 2.30pm.

The ambulance service was called to the rear of the car park and police and ambulance personnel gave first aid at the scene but she died shortly after arriving at Lister Hospital of multiple traumatic injuries.

Gary Sanderson, spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service who attended the incident, said: "On our arrival police officers were already performing basic life support on the woman. Paramedics and emergency medical technicians quickly stabilised her before conveying her to an awaiting trauma team at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

An inquest was opened and adjourned today (Wednesday) by coroner Edward Thomas.
