A cyclist suffered a fractured jaw after a car mounted the pavement and failed to stop in Hitchin early this morning.
The rider, a man in his 30s, was riding along a footpath Old Hale Way at around 6am when he was hit by the car – which then drove off.
PC David Charlton of the Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Road Policing Unit, said: “We are still working to establish the exact location of the collision in this road and further details about the car and motorist involved.”
The cyclist remains in hospital after the crash.
