A car fire temporarily closed a lane of the A1(M) this afternoon near Stevenage.
Fire crews from Baldock and Stevenage were called at 12.40pm after the vehicle caught alight on the hard shoulder of the southbound stretch of the motorway between Junction 8 and Junction 7 for Stevenage.
The fire was out within 15 minutes and the outside lane of the motorway was closed while Herts Highways recovered the car.
The police and ambulance service were informed but did not attend.
No one is believed to have been injured in the fire.
