A CADET is off to St James' Palace in London to collect his Duke of Edinburgh certificate.

Sgt Kenji Kemp, aged 17 and a member of the 1066 (Hitchin) Sqn, has achieved his gold award, the first cadet from Hitchin to achieve the award since the current commanding officer achieved hers in 2001.

Sgt Kemp said: "Completion of my gold award is a fantastic feeling and a great sense of achievement."

The squadron is looking for new members aged 13 to 17 in addition to adults wanting to join the staff.
