Nurses on a children’s ward are urging people to help very sick children by buying a star this Christmas.
The paediatrics team on the Bluebell ward at Lister Hospital are calling on readers to help young patients like Nikita Gretsi (pictured), one of the 34,000 very sick children they treat each year, by buying a special Christmas star decoration.
With the message ‘I am shining to light up a life’, the stars cost 5, and the money will go towards helping improve children’s experience in hospital.
Marilyn Goodhew, senior play specialist on the ward, said: “The money raised will be instrumental in helping us to enhance the environment in the ward, enabling us to provide stimulation and a variety of activities for sick children and their families at what can be a very difficult time for them.”
To buy a star go to www.justgiving.com/Christmas-Stars or call 01438 781682.
