Sophie Victoria Webb, 25, set up SVW less than a year ago with a small range of ready-to-wear styles for women – but has already had major models like Chloe Lloyd wearing her designs.

“She was really keen and excited and felt the brand and the clothing really suited her style,” said Sophie.

“The image itself not only received thousands of likes, but sales also occurred as a result.

Now SVW, described by Sophie as following a minimalistic ‘less is more’ concept, is set to feature in Glamour magazine in December, January and February, and Elle in December.

She said: “I actually contacted them and, to be honest, they weren’t that interested. For them to be emailing my website and contacting me now is so great.

“People are starting to recognise and see SVW as I do. The brand really is growing and it is an amazing feeling. SVW is breaking the industry little by little, and it’s only up from here.”

It hasn’t been easy for Sophie to get to this stage, and she hopes her example can help inspire others to achieve their dreams.

“Before launching the brand, I was working on it for two years,” she said.

“It takes a lot of preparation, and even when you launch you have to maintain a certain level of persistence and consistency as the fashion industry is not easy to crack. You have to take a lot of setbacks.

“The hardest thing about setting up your own business is that in the early stages you really are doing a bit of everything – from designing the collection, to packing orders, to social media and even accounts.

“You have to keep focused and, honestly, believe in yourself.”

Sophie’s vision is for her label to be “accessible and affordable albeit classic – timeless and, most importantly, minimalistic”.

The clothes she designs are billed as versatile enough to wear at work or on a night out, based around clean-cut shapes and simple colours and tones.

Sophie hopes to eventually take the brand worldwide, and to branch out from womenswear and create clothes for men and children too.
