A Potton butcher’s shop which was forced to close by a freak car crash is set to reopen tomorrow.

Clayton Family Butchers, in Market Square, closed after the crash late on the night of Sunday, July 23, which demolished the shop front.

Nobody was injured – but rebuilding work to the Grade II-listed building in the Market Square conservation area made a long closure necessary.

Manager Adam Clayton said: “We really appreciate everyone’s patience and support during this difficult time, and are looking forward to getting back to serving our customers – especially in the run-up to Christmas.”

The community rallied around the town centre shop after the crash, coming out to help the Clayton team clear up all the broken glass and other debris.

Speaking to the Comet at the time, Mr Clayton saluted the community response and said everyone at the shop wished the motorist well.
