SCIENTISTS from across Europe were in Stevenage recently to take part in the Galileo Masters Evaluation event which decides the global winner of the annual Satellite Navigation Competition.

The two-day event was hosted by the Hertfordshire Business Incubation Centre at the Business Technology Centre and was part sponsored by Stevenage Borough Council (SBC).

The competition invites new and existing businesses to put forward entries which encourage new ideas in satellite positioning technology and location based systems. The entries were assessed by judges from Germany, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, USA, Australia and Taiwan. The winner is due to be announced in Munich onthis week.

Cllr Simon Speller, SBC executive member for economy, enterprise and transport, said: "It is a great honour for Stevenage to be hosting the international judging for the Galileo Masters International. Last year's winners, Sci-Tech Systems are just one of many Stevenage-based firms who are working at the cutting edge of technology.
