A national haulage company is set to deliver a new depot in Hitchin, creating at least 30 new jobs.

Knights of Old, a Kettering-based transport and distribution company, will begin operating out of a new warehouse facility at Knowl Piece in the town from March 1.

Managing Director Ian Beattie said it was a great opportunity for the company to expand into Herts and London.

“We are focussed on expanding our business in this area. With the recruitment of 30 plus local people we hope to develop links with the local community,” he said.

The company, which has been in operation for over a century, currently runs 130 trucks and 200 trailers. It forms part of national distribution company, Partnerlink, which has a combined haulage network of 1400 trucks and a 250m annual turnover.
