The turnout at a birthday bash to mark the 50th anniversary of a landmark Hitchin shop spoke volumes for its standing in the town.
ndrew and Alison Fell-Gordon invited staff, customers and well-wishers to the event at Eric T. Moore’s secondhand and specialist bookshop in Bridge Street where a cake provided by Scilla Douglas of Hitchin Historical Society took pride of place.
The couple paid tribute to the shop’s founders Eric and Margaret Moore and thanked many supporters who had helped them find their feet as well as loyal staff including Anne Chambers, Katie Maynard and Keith Crowe.
The shop – once two cottages and also used as a pub in the past – will be hosting a signing session for Hitchin actor and broadcaster Richard Whitmore’s autobiography on Saturday from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
