A charity dedicated to providing emotional and practical support to people who are affected by the trauma and bereavement of a fatal road collision has appointed a new chief executive.

The Road Victims Trust provides its services across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire.

Mark Turner will take over from Steve Ottaway as chief executive when Steve retires after three years in the role.

Chief executive Steve Ottaway said: “I am privileged to have worked with trustees, staff and volunteers who are completely dedicated to ensuring people who are affected by the trauma and grief of road death receive the support they need. I am especially pleased to have overseen the extension of our services into Cambridgeshire so that more people are able to access our services.”

Steve went on to say: “Mark has previous experience of working alongside the Trust from his time as a police officer and I know that he will continue to make sure that the Trust goes from strength to strength.”
