A victim is appealing for the return of sentimental jewellery after thieves broke into a home in a mid-afternoon burglary.

Police are appealing for witness after thieves broke into the rear of a property on Bedford Road, Hitchin on July 22, between midday and 2.40pm, and after a search made off with the jewellery.

Investigating officer Pc Simon Klusk said: “Jewellery of sentimental value was taken during this burglary that the owners would like back. The property is near to the Territorial Army base and the road is fairly busy at that time of day. If you were in the area at the time and believe you saw anything suspicious I would ask that you call police.”
