A shoe repair shop in the centre of Hitchin has been burgled overnight, with intruders smashing through the shop’s front window and taking TV equipment.
Police were called to Jamie’s Shoe Repairs in Market Place just before 8.45am this morning after an employee arrived to find a pane of the shop’s front window smashed.
A 19-inch TV monitor and its remote control and stand were taken, along with a memory stick. Police said the incident took place between 5.30pm yesterday and 5.30am this morning.
The shop’s owners Jamie and Nikki Beach are very pleased with the response from the police and the public.
Nikki said: “We’ve been here for eight years and there’s been nothing before – just a pane of glass broken one time.
“The support we’ve had has been great.”
Jamie added: “The police were brilliant. The guy spent about an hour and a half just looking for fingerprints, he was so thorough.”
