BROWNIES young and old gathered on Monday night to celebrate a special birthday.

The party in the Chapter House at St Andrew's Church, Biggleswade, was celebrating the 75th birthday of the 1st Biggleswade Brownie pack.

Among the guests were Biggleswade mayor Cllr Wendy Smith and her husband David who enjoyed a 1930s tea party with traditional games, displays and even a camp fire before tucking into a special cake.

Also among the guests were many old members of the 1st Biggleswade Brownies including Margaret Walker who has devoted 60 years to the Brownies and Guides in Biggleswade.

"It was a wonderful evening with the current Brownies enjoying meeting some of the old girls from the pack. It was great fun," said Babs Gurney, Brown Owl leader of the 1st Biggleswade Brownies.
