A LORRY caused a traffic jam after it got wedged under a bridge.
The vehicle was left in a sticky situation when part of its roof was torn off after hitting the railway bridge on Station Road, Baldock, at about 10.40am yesterday (Wednesday).
Police closed the road in both directions and other drivers were forced to turn back. The lorry was stuck for over an hour and all trains travelling on the stretch of track were stopped by Network Rail during that time. A spokesman for Network Rail said: "After it was removed our engineer assessed the damage to the bridge and after he was happy that everything was OK with it the line was reopened.
