A charity worker is demanding that the owner of a sex shop removes a brick celebrating the year of the disabled in the building's wall.

Ken Lynch, chairman of the Biggeswade and District Pensioners' Association, said: "It is not appropriate to have the brick on the side of a sex shop and I have asked them to have it removed.

"I have told them I will even pay for it to be replaced."

Mr Lynch, of Pyms Way, Sandy, was part of the stick-a-brick fund-raising campaign that raised thousands of pounds for the spinal unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital back in 1981.

He said 100 limited edition bricks bearing the crest of the Prince of Wales were created to commemorate the International Year of the Disabled. One was placed in the wall of the Biggleswade Post Office and one in the wall of the former Happy Eater Restaurant on the A1 which is now the Adult Pit Stop sex shop.

Manager of the shop Martin Cobbon said he thought the brick celebrated the wedding between Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer.

"Mr Lynch has contacted me and he is really making a mountain out of a molehill," said Mr Cobbon.

"It is not up to me to say the brick can be moved. It is up to the owner and he is currently on holiday. I will pass on Mr Lynch's request to him.
